ABOUT AREN X. TULCHINSKY

Aren X. Tulchinsky, the writer formerly known as Karen X. Tulchinsky is an award-winning novelist, screen and television writer and video editor. Tulchinsky\'s most recent novel, THE FIVE BOOKS OF MOSES LAPINSKY was a Toronto Book Award Finalist, it won the One Book One Vancouver Prize in 2008, and in 2014, the novel was named one of the Top Ten Books About Toronto by the Toronto Star, on a list which included Margaret Atwood and Michael Ondantje. The novel has been honoured with a permanent plaque in Christie Pits Park in Toronto by Project Bookmark Canada.A graduate of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre, founded by acclaimed director, Norman Jewison, Tulchinsky has worked as a writer, video editor, director and story editor on numerous television series, including The Guard(Global TV), Robson Arms(CTV), Kink(Showcase), Glutton for Punishment(Food), Pyros(Discovery Channel), Timber Kings(HGTV) The Audience(W), Border Security(Global), High Arctic Haulers(CBC), The Nature of Things(CBC), Save My Reno(HGTV), Queen of the Oil Patch(APTN) and The Bachelor Canada(CityTV).Tulchinsky has several feature length screenplays in development, including I SHOT THE SHERIFF, which will be directed by acclaimed Toronto director Clement Virgo(The Book of Negroes), and a screenplay adaptation of THE FIVE BOOKS OF MOSES LAPINSKY, which is currently under option to be developed into a mini-series for television.A graduate of Women in the Director\'s Chair at the Banff Centre, Tulchinsky\'s first short film, MS. THING, starring Melanie Bray, has screened in over 50 film festivals, internationally, including screenings in London, Paris, Toronto, New York, Las Vegas, Vancouver, Cork Ireland, Hamburg, Toulouse, The Canary Islands, Sicily and Mumbai. Ms. Thing won Audience Choice Award at QueerFruits Australia.Tulchinsky teaches creative writing workshops and is a writing mentor at Vancouver Manuscript Intensive.
