About Josh Archambault
A friend of mine called me to celebrate, she had just saved thousands of dollars for a common health care service simply by parking at a different clinic one mile away. A week earlier she was considering skipping the procedure over concerns of cost, the next she had gotten it and was paid by her employer to do so because she had shopped for care. That made for a good day. Being a small part of making that option available to her - is career focusing. I have grown tired of hearing that now is not the right time to drive down costs/spending. That if we spend just a few billion more now, or hand out a few more insurance cards our health care problems will be fixed in 5 to 10 years. It is not true, and often used to mislead. Our country’s health and economic futures are at stake. Some have estimated that millennials will spend 50-75 percent of their lifetime earnings on health care. Enough is enough. Better Outcomes for Less: I partner with innovative health care companies and think tanks that want to move the needle on price, utilization or deliver care in a completely different way. Companies that are looking for advice as they enter new markets, or want to use their services or tools to help drive down spending in health care.Companies that: Use patient or provider-centered care designsAre their products or services easy to use for a patient or provider? Can information be conveyed in such a manner that my friends and family will fully understand it? Seek to move the needle Can better health care be given as a result of this innovation for less? Do the right and hard things over timeAre they committed to helping patients and employers save money or just maximize revenue within the dysfunctional system we have today?I often offer the contrarian view in the media, or to policymakers. Their doorways or telephones get the most calls from status quo players looking for more protection that drives up costs or for more money. I am energized by moments when someone says, “I have never thought of it that way, that makes perfect sense, so let’s get to work to fix it!”Reach out if I can help you win this fight: j•••@presidentslane.com
