About Arash Bashirullah

I am honored to serve as Dean of the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, working alongside an exceptional community of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners to strengthen healthcare education, research, and patient impact in Houston, throughout Texas, and beyond.My approach to leadership is grounded in collaboration, trust, and shared purpose. I believe strong academic institutions are built by empowering people, investing in talent and infrastructure, and creating environments where education, research, and clinical practice translate efficiently into real-world solutions that improve patient care, workforce readiness, and health outcomes.Prior to joining UH, I served as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and Professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I helped strengthen research programs, graduate training, and external partnerships.Trained as a geneticist and cell biologist, my scholarly background is in lipid biology and cellular signaling. While my current focus is institutional leadership, I continue to value scientific discovery as the foundation of strong, competitive research universities.
