About April Rae Mallord

April has an influx of energy and ideas and is highly motivated to build national businesses while staying conscientious of the local community. For 15+ years she was in client and partner-facing, management roles which required her to have a deep understanding of traditional and digital customer acquisition, negotiating, market research, and business technology integration. April was mentored by successful entrepreneurs and Marketing leaders, such as Andy Murray (Founder of Saatchi & Saatchi X). She received her B.A. in Marketing and Computer Information Systems (CIS) in 2010 from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. She received the Program Scholar Award for CIS and was inducted into the Business Honors Society, Beta Gamma Sigma, in 2009.For the past ten years, April has focused on building up the Northwest Arkansas (NWA) community. She has consulted many local product and tech startups, established a sustainable candle company called Hobby & Hum, and opened a locally-sourced home goods and gifts boutique called The Milk Carton. She worked assisted in opening the community-driven restaurant JBGB, created the largest and most active singles group in NWA, and started a themed event company called Clutch Events which brings awareness to new local venues. She was invited to be on the Fayetteville Innovation Council and has assisted in creating local entrepreneurial events such as the Startup Crawl and Minority Plug, which brings awareness to minority owned businesses in NWA. She has also spent the past year building the technology platform SwoopJobs, a multi-sided, on-demand hiring application for the Hospitality, Event, and Film Production Industries.April is determined to give minorities and women a voice in Northwest Arkansas and beyond, as well as help dreamers realize that their dreams are within grasp. Eventually she would like to create a new, organic type of development company, somewhat like a think tank collaborative with sharp minds and fresh ideas.
