About April Prunty
I am shaping the future of nursing education with integrity, alignment, and purpose. I believe the future of nursing doesn’t lie in doing more of the same and instead it lies in designing what nursing education needs next. For 20+ years, I’ve dedicated my career to preparing nurses who are not only clinically excellent but deeply prepared for the realities of modern health systems, regulatory environments, and workforce demands. I’ve led and transformed academic programs, forged bridge-building partnerships between universities and practice settings, and championed professional identity formation that empowers nurses as leaders, advocates, and agents of change.Today, my work sits at the intersection of:Academic innovation - aligning curriculum to emerging health system needsAcademic–practice integration - co-designing clinical experiences with health partnersWorkforce strategy and policy - elevating dialogue between education and regulationLeadership development - shaping nurse leaders who can steward change at scaleAcross roles, from classroom to executive leadership to national policy tables, my focus has been consistent: solve the system problems that limit nurse preparation and workforce readiness.I am particularly passionate about advancing nursing education through evidence and data, reframing regulatory engagement as partnership, not impedance, cultivating faculty capacity for complex care delivery and innovation, and narrative leadership that bridges sectors rather than divides them.As I build what comes next in nursing education, and prepare to stand up a new College, I’m seeking collaborators, thought partners, and bold thinkers who care about meaningful reform more than incremental change.Let’s connect if you share a commitment to evolving nursing education, shaping workforce strategy, or advancing leadership for the future of health care.
