About April Lofgren

Salutations! I am April, an ambitious advocate for animals, people, and the planet. I have spent a lifetime in fundraising ever since I was a wee Girl Scout learning how to charm people into buying cookies. I took those valuable lessons I learned in my youth and have proudly used them throughout my life in raising support for various causes. I have organized fundraisers for loved ones and have been an enthusiastic participant in charity walks like the American Foundationbfor Suicide Prevention\'s \"Out of the Darkness\" overnight walk and the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk. I estimate I have raised over for my various endeavors and I am so grateful I have had the opportunity to use my talents to generate so much support for causes in need. Networking on websites like LinkedIn is important to me because the people we meet along the way help write our stories. I have been very fortunate to work with some incredible people who have helped educate and guide me through my career paths. As a young adult, I landed in Early Childhood Education, working with youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was my childcare experience that landed me a job as a Summer Camp Teacher for Marin Humane, the organization that gave me my first chance at learning how to professionally fundraise after summer had ended. Marin Humane helped set me up for my career and helped me land opportunities at wonderful organizations like the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children\'s Health and Aldea, Inc. Both roles helped me learn more about annual giving, direct marketing, and event planning. My previous Development roles have given me extensive experience in the programs Raiser\'s Edge, Greater Giving, ClickBid, Classy, Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace. After spending nearly two decades working towards my degree, I graduated as the \"1st Class of the Pandemic\" with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from San Francisco State University. My education and dedication to helping protect the planet landed me a job as a Coastal Planner for the County of San Luis Obispo in the Spring of 2022. I processed Minor Use Permits and Coastal Development Permits using BlueBeam Revu and ArcGIS tools. This role helped give me experience regarding CEQA and the Coastal Act of 1976 and I always enjoyed getting to read and write environmental reports. I even was able to \"save a tree\" from being cut down to expand a parking lot! I have many passions in life and am eager to continue to write my next chapter, no matter where life takes me.    I\'m thrilled to announce that I started working at WildCare on May 1st as their Development Coordinator. WildCare is Marin County\'s Wildlife Hospital and provides top-of-the line care for wildlife needing help. We also have a provide environmental education that helps teach others about the importance of caring for the ecosystem.
