ABOUT APRIL ARMSTRONG

Dr. Armstrong is Professor and Chief of Dermatology at University of California Los Angeles. A dermatologist and a researcher, she believes that sound clinical practice needs to be rooted in evidenced-based medicine. She has been deeply committed to clinical research and the care of patients with inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Her research focuses on optimizing treatments for inflammatory skin diseases, investigating epidemiology of skin diseases and comorbidities, and increasing patient access using technology-enabled healthcare delivery methods.Dr. Armstrong obtained MD from Harvard Medical School and completed Dermatology Residency at Harvard. She also obtained an MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. Prior to joining UCLA, she served as Associate Dean of Clinical Research, Vice Chair of Dermatology at the University of Southern California and Director of Clinical Research Support at Southern California CTSI. Her professinal experiences also included serving as Vice Chair of Clinical Research at dermatology departments at the University of California Davis and the University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Armstrong has conducted over 150 clinical trials and published over 450 articles in scientific journals. Dr. Armstrong has a long history of service to the medical profession on a national and international level. She has held multiple leadership positions at professional societies, including serving as Chair of the Medical Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation, Co-President of Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA), board member of the American Academy of Dermatology and IDEOM, and Councilor for the International Psoriasis Council and International Eczema Council. She has served as an associate Editor for JAMA Dermatology and was a member of editorial boards for JAAD and Telemedicine and eHealth.
