About Apollinaire Abi
Apollinaire is an aspiring economic researcher with interest in development economics. He is a recipient of the Weiss Fund for Research in Development Economics, and is working with Prof. Oeindrila Dube at the Harris School of Public Policy, University of Chicago. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Mathematics from Ashoka University (India) and a postgraduate diploma with minors in Economics and Computer Science from the same university. Apollinaire is also currently working with Dr. Abhilash Mishra at Equitech Futures, on projects on financial inclusion, education, healthcare and ML. He also co-founded NawiriTech in 2022, redefining how data science is taught in Africa. Earlier in 2022, Apollinaire joined the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (Nigeria) as a research intern, to work on a laboratory research in genomics. While at Ashoka University, Apollinaire was a Teaching Assistant for probability and statistics, and discrete mathematics. Moreover, he has participated in various projects such as Parivartan Academy as an Educator; Ubuntu Fest 2019 as the Head of Logistics department; and founded Ashoka University’s International Students Association’s football club. He is also leading a project at Edulcod Togo to train Togolese high-schoolers in data science and artificial intelligence. Apollinaire is an alumnus of the prestigious African Leadership Academy (South Africa) where he obtained a diploma in entrepreneurial leadership. He also completed his secondary education in Togo from one of the two scientific high schools of the country - a government project to develop scientists skilled and determined to create change using science and technology.
