ABOUT APARNA RAMAN

With over 2 decades’ experience in the brand advertising, media and communications industry, I am passionate about design education and creative practice. As the Head of Studies ( MAVC) and Faculty at Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, I facilitate courses in Visual Communication, Strategic Branding, Information Design, and the Liberal Arts, integrating industry expertise and academic rigor. I am also a researcher and practitioner in Memory Studies, exploring multidisciplinary approaches to memory through various lenses, such as oral history, cinema, ecology, technology, and social media. I have curated and published books, presented at conferences, and conducted workshops on this topic. Additionally, I am the founder and chief story hunter of Timbuktoo Young Authors Publishing, India\'s first by-kids-for-kids reading, writing, and publishing initiative. I mentor young writers, curate literature programs, and speak at education, business, and literary a Professor of Practice, and PhD candidate, I attend and participate in Memory Conferences around the world. Memory in Transit, Peru; Memory in North Africa, Morocco; Memory & Ecology, IIT Madras; Place of Memory & the Memory of Place, London Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies and the World Design Organisation, Tokyo.
