ABOUT AOIFE MCGUINNESS

I’ve always been fascinated by the senses: how sound shapes taste, how light alters mood, how touch grounds us, and how these interactions change the way we feel.I trained as a cognitive neuroscientist and spent the last 7 years applying neuroscience in industry research. My work has spanned EEG studies, implicit testing, and multisensory behavioural research, helping agencies, brands, and cultural organisations understand what moves people and why.Alongside my scientific training, I’ve spent over a decade creating multisensory environments in the cultural and nightlife space, from DIY raves in London to the development of Overflow, a sensory wellbeing project in Berlin. This dual perspective—science and lived sensory design—now informs my consulting practice.Today, I support organisations through: Research: sensory audits, surveys, EEG & implicit studies Strategy: sensory storytelling, brand & touchpoint design Design: multisensory experiences, spatial design, wellbeing environmentsMy aim is to bring science into experience design, creating environments and narratives that are not only engaging but also support human wellbeing, embodiment, and connection.
