My teaching philosophy is rooted in student discovery, whereby the student is mindful and knowledgeable of their place in the world, allowing them to use this knowledge as a tool of empowerment to create change.In my experience, each student’s experience is unique; for this reason, I cement my teaching practice in differentiated learning and assessment, so that I can respond punctually to my students’ needs. My prompt reactive responses propagate strong effective relationships with my students, an imperative element in my classroom. Establishing authentic student-educator relationships are vital in nurturing a classroom environment where students take responsibility for their learning, in turn fostering students’ holistic achievement.Through experience I have acquired a meticulous awareness for the importance of long-term planning using a backwards- design planning strategy fastened in inquiry-based learning. My implicit teaching methods allow my students to engage in experiential learning, using an explore-first-explain-later approach to maximize their engagement on complex curricular concepts, learning goals and success criteria. Additionally, I develop lessons that are reflective of the identities and experiences of my students, empowering my students to have a voice with reference to their learning.As a passionate advocate for holistic wellness, I am eager to bring forth my lifelong commitment to active, mindful living. With a strong aptitude in athletics—complemented by my invaluable interpersonal and leadership skills—I am certain to quickly become an immediate asset by integrating mindful practice into my classroom. I, also, intend to bring said characteristics outside the classroom into extracurricular sports and pursuits.I am eager to continue my career as an educator with an educational team with a strong reputation for putting students first.
