Experience
Independent Journalist and Mountaineer at Bohemian Adventures
Feb 2014 — Present · Mumbai, IN
I am an award-winning journalist, a British Chevening Scholar, a Content Writer and a mountaineer. After having been in Main Stream journalism for 23 years, I moved to pursue my second passion which is Adventure Sports and working for social causes, however, I continue with independent journalism writing on topics on social issues, inclusion and adventure sports. I also now handle content for a preventive healthcare company -GOQii. I founded Bohemian Adventures with two of my women mountaineer friends. With this venture I have been been able to combine my writing skills with my adventure training to be able to effect greater change in society by getting more people introduced to the outdoors and adventure. With this direction the company has embraced inclusion as part of our SOPs and philosophy. We regularly conduct treks and other adventure activities for Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens and other groups of people who have traditionally been excluded from outdoor activities. I have also started my social initiative called Summiting4Hope (S4H) to help raise funds for causes through adventure sports. I have done several projects with various NGOs whose work I resonates with. In September 2018, I as the lead guide successfully led India’s first inclusive climbing expedition to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro where the team comprised of 3 blind climbers and 10 sighted climbers. Furthering my awareness campaign for inclusion in the outdoors in September 2020, I got the opportunity to spoke at TEDx Gateway Versova chapter on ‘Embracing Inclusion in the Outdoors’ under the theme ‘Empowerment’ and in June 2021, I addressed a group of students at the TEDxYouth@Ascend International School. I firmly believes that the mountains and the outdoors do not differentiate between anyone, and that to change something, you have to be the change you wish to see.
