ABOUT ANUPREET PORWAL

Hello, I am Anupreet Porwal, a PhD in Statistics from University of Washington. I am broadly interested in Bayesian Machine Learning and Statistical Modelling Techniques. My PhD advisors were Prof. Abel Rodriguez and Prof. Adrian Raftery and my dissertation was broadly focused on Bayesian methods for sparsity modelling and model selection. Before coming to UW, I worked as an analyst with North American Liability Strategies team in Deutsche Bank (DB). At DB, I advised North American corporate clients on their liability strategies including liability management, capital structure analysis, ratings, and pension advisory.I did my bachelors and masters in Mathematics and Scientific Computing from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2017 where I was fortunate to work with Prof. Debasis Kundu, Prof. Amit Mitra and Prof. Piyush Rai. During my stay at IIT Kanpur, I have developed a strong skill set in areas of Bayesian Machine Learning and Statistical Modelling Techniques and their applications to everyday life. I am motivated to take up new challenges and have an exponential function of growth with time. My performance at Deutsche Bank and IIT Kanpur is a testimonial to the same. My long-term goal is to use my knowledge and skills to draw useful insights and contribute to the development of our society. I wish to pursue a career that provides a challenging yet exciting learning experience with a fast developing skill set by providing an opportunity to work on diverse problems.
