About Anupam Mukerji
I write for people who’ve done everything “right” — and still feel something’s missing. After accidentally becoming India’s first viral internet sensation as the anonymous Fake IPL Player in 2009, I discovered firsthand how intoxicating attention and conventional success can be, and how quickly they stop answering the deeper questions. That realisation sent me on an eight-year exploration across India: Himalayan monasteries, wandering sadhus, ten-day meditation retreats, ayahuasca ceremonies in Kerala, and many dead ends in between. Most of what I encountered wasn’t transformative, but it was revealing. Of people. Of belief. Of the stories we tell ourselves. That journey became Savage Pilgrim (May 2026), a memoir for people tired of enlightenment porn and transformation narratives, and curious about what happens when the search itself becomes the problem.I’m also the co-author of The Zen Hustle Code (HarperCollins, Feb 2026), a corporate satire disguised as a career book, about succeeding without losing your life to the process.Between the writing and the wandering, I’ve built and exited two digital marketing agencies, worked with brands like Star Sports, Hotstar, Samsung and Red Bull, and served as CMO of a B2B SaaS company where my team drove 50% of new customer acquisition and 70% of revenue growth. My work is rooted in first-principles thinking and creative problem-solving.These days, I write and speak about uncomfortable truths, unlikely teachers, and the messy reality of meaning after ambition. My Substack, Letters from the Road, shares stories that didn’t make it into the books.I occasionally work with founders and leadership teams navigating the post-PMF phase — when growth is happening, but something feels hollow. If you’re trying to scale without losing your soul, we should talk.Otherwise, you’re welcome to stay for the stories.
