ABOUT ANUM KAMRAN

I’m Anum Kamran, a second-year Life Sciences and Psychology student at the University of Waterloo, minoring in Addictions, Mental Health, and Policy. I’m passionate about the intersection of STEM, mental health advocacy, and youth development, with long-term goals of pursuing clinical psychology. Particularly in roles that support children and adolescents and especially in ways that uplift underrepresented voices and expand access to care.My experiences reflect both academic curiosity and a commitment to equity and outreach. I co-directed Peppermint Spiral, a youth-led short film on teen addiction and mental health that premiered at TIFF Lightbox, and I’ve served as a mentor and writing instructor with Girls in Med, where I led virtual writing/essay creation classes and developed original curriculum to support student success. I’ve also worked in healthcare and outreach settings, including the Scarborough Health Network and the Adventures in Science program by the University of Toronto.I’m eager to explore opportunities where I can bridge my academic background with hands-on experience. I’m hoping to deepen my understanding through research, mentorship, and community-based initiatives as I work toward a future in psychology.I’m always open to opportunities that foster connection, growth, innovation, and learning. I welcome the chance to engage with individuals and organizations working toward meaningful impact.
