I am a Youth Justice Worker currently working in a secure custody and detention environment, supporting youth with complex social, emotional, behavioural, and mental-health needs. My work is grounded in a relationship-based, trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, accountability, rehabilitation, and respect.In my current role at Kennedy House Youth Centre, I provide daily supervision and support to youth in custody, contribute to case management and rehabilitative programming, complete detailed documentation, and apply conflict de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe and structured environment. I work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support positive behaviour development, emotional regulation, and readiness for reintegration into the community.Previously, I worked with the Region of Waterloo in high-risk shelter and supportive housing environments as a Tactical Guard, where I supported vulnerable populations, responded to crises, managed behavioural incidents, and operated under strict safety and security protocols. This experience strengthened my situational awareness, decision-making under pressure, and ability to balance enforcement with compassion.I also bring experience from early childhood education, which deepened my understanding of child and youth development and supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, OCD, and other developmental and behavioural needs. This foundation allows me to approach youth work with patience, structure, and empathy.I am trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI), Use of Force, Suicide Intervention, and Overdose Prevention, and I am committed to using the least intrusive, most appropriate interventions in accordance with policy and best practices.While I hold a background in computer programming, my professional focus is firmly rooted in youth justice, secure custody, and community safety. I am passionate about contributing to environments that promote growth, accountability, and positive change for young people navigating complex challenges.I am always open to connecting with professionals in youth justice, corrections, enforcement, social services, and community safety.
