Performing all the duties of the Transit Safety Officer position including the following:•Supervise VTA’s Transit System Safety Unit and all activities related to their duties and safety related activities.•Write/Review/Develop Standard Operation Procedures, Policies, Work Instructions. These duties also include editing/revising VTA’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP), and working in the development of VTA’s Work Place Violence Prevention Program (WVPP).•Oversee VTA’s Hazard Management Program (HMP) and ensure all documentation/filing is kept in compliance of applicable regulation.•Chair/Participate in safety committees including joint labor bargaining committees and PTASP Review Committee.•Participate in the design/procurement/implementation of vehicles and systems on VTA’s transit system and ensuring safe operating and working environments. •Participate in safety certification related activities. •Oversee unit’s budget and assist with departmental needs for procurement. •Develops and controls unit budget.•Supervise and oversee safety event reporting including the investigations process of investigating safety events on VTA’s transit system to determine root causes and form corrective actions in the reduction/mitigation of future events.
