ABOUT ANTONIA MACRIS

As a motivated federal public servant, I strive for efficiency and collaboration in my work to support Canadians and let my goal of creating positive organizational impact guide my strategic planning, decision-making and leadership. While working at both ESDC and I have further developed my skills in human resources, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, project management, and advising senior management in support of Departmental corporate priorities and learning policies. I have a rich interdisciplinary background, with an MA in Educational Technology (2022), an MEnv in Environmental Assessment (2021), and a Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Communications Management (2020). My academic research interests focused on advancing global environmental education by leveraging communications practices to promote pro-environmental social and behaviour change across corporate, national and international sectors. My unique training allows me to provide an innovative perspective to my management role, as I can relate to partners and clients with a background best aligned to understanding core Departmental business needs. I am a lifelong learner and volunteer both within the public service and with diverse organizations. Prior to the public service, I have gained over seven years of work and volunteer experience across higher education institutions, youth and environmental non-profit organizations in sustainability and climate change initiatives, strategic communications planning, public relations, volunteer management, stakeholder engagement, events and campaign development. I have also gained international environmental experience working in the Office of the Executive Secretary with the United Nations Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and Efficiency Canada, volunteering as a Public Service Envoy at COP15 and participating in Leadership Fellowships with Student Energy, the International Renewable Energy Agency and Daughter’s of the Vote with Equal Voice.
