About Antonia D.

Born and raised in the island of Trinidad and Tobago and now a first-generation undergraduate international student at St Francis College, I moved to New York City by myself and traveled for the first time in my life to pursue an education. My dedication to academic success has led me to be one of four recipients of the 2022 Presidential Scholarship at SFC, to attend this university and pursue my tertiary education. I am pursuing a BA/MA Degree in Applied Behavioral Psychology with a Minor in Spanish and I am in the honors program. During my time at SFC, I have been inducted into two honors societies including Alpha Lambda Delta and Psi Chi due to my academic achievements. I was also granted the opportunity to be a guest speaker at a forum for first-generation students. I have equally honed my professional skills as a student worker at the Undergraduate Hub for 2 years now, and have been a Resident Assistant at the Residence Halls for the past year. In addition, I have also been a member of several committees such as the Values Task Force at SFC, where our goal was to formulate and instill values at the college to create a welcoming and prosperous environment, Academic Excellence and Educational Effectiveness committees seeking to refine and restructure integral components of education at SFC. In the future, I aspire to work in the healthcare sector and assist those in need. I have immersed myself in voluntary work through personal involvement and large organizations. I have also participated as a leader in multiple clubs and a major organization (The Duke of Edinburgh Award) educating and guiding groups toward achieving a common goal and developing new skills. These interactions have led me to appreciate diverse groups and learn more about various cultures and ensure that all members acquire equal opportunities in an educational environment. In part with my devotion to cultural awareness and inclusivity, I am highly dedicated to language learning with the intention of being a polyglot of numerous languages.
