Prior to this, he was the Chief Officer responsible for Pupil and Student Services in Liverpool LEA and, before that, the Head of SEN Support Services in Rochdale LEA. His professional background lies in special educational needs and social inclusion. He has published a book and numerous articles on meeting special educational needs in mainstream schools, thinking skills and a whole school approach to inclusion. Anton has extensive experience of leadership and management development and, particularly, the management of change at institutional level, having been a consultant to a number of local authorities in the UK and abroad and has also served on numerous national steering/advisory groups. Since 2001, he has worked closely with the Associations of Directors of Education in Scotland and Wales to successfully establish the Staff College in both countries. From 20••••11 he was the Principal Adviser to the national leadership provision for Directors of children\'s services and subsequently the accountable officer when all elements novated from the National College to the Staff College. He is currently working on a number of leadership and management development projects in the UK and internationally which are aimed at developing leadership capacity across the public sector generally and in children\'s services in particular.
