About Anthony Zheng

Coming to college, I was able to explore and challenge my design thinking. I was always tasked to think critically about problems and to interpret and design solutions in an abstract, but meaningful, way. I came across UX design after auditing, and later completed, a course here on campus and I fell in love with the field. I found that with UX design, I would be able to use my design thinking to tackle certain problems with developed solutions. Coming from an unconventional design background, I did not have access to a community of UX designers to learn from. On the other hand, I always had an entrepreneurial spirit coming to Cornell, so I saw this as an opportunity to pursue startups- I started with Village, a platform that focused on allowing Asian Americans to share their stories of hardship coming to America- I then moved on to Viva, an app that focused on creating friendships through interest-based events- Finally, I co-founded Auni, a platform for music artists to connect and collaborate in a currently difficult industry to develop professionally.Throughout each startup, I learned and got better at technical UX processes and designing for the user. I would always reflect to see what I did well, but more importantly what I could have improved on or done differently.
