About Anthony L. Bui
I am a primary care pediatrician, health services researcher, and faculty physician-scientist at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s. My research utilizes quantitative, qualitative, and community-engaged methods to address disparities in youth mental health, with a specific focus on immigrant and Asian American communities. By partnering with primary care clinics, schools, county health departments, and community organizations, I work to dismantle barriers to care and evaluate scalable solutions for unmet mental health needs. I\'ve also led studies on health spending and community safety. My research has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Reuters, The Atlantic, NPR/KUOW, CNN, ABC News, NBC News, and Forbes.I practice primary care pediatrics with a focus on whole child care, behavioral health, and medical complexity and am currently completing additional training in child and adolescent psychiatry for primary care. I also teach medical students at Harborview Medical Center. I am a first-generation college graduate of UC Berkeley and earned my MD as a Geffen Scholar at UCLA and my MPH at UW. A recipient of the American Academy of Pediatrics\' Anne E. Dyson Child Advocacy Award, I completed my pediatric and chief residency at UW. I began my career as a strategy consultant for Monitor Deloitte, working across New York, Vietnam, and Kenya, and completed global health work in Uganda, Zambia, India, Thailand, and Peru.
