ABOUT ANTHONY FRANK

Growing up I always knew that I wanted to be a physician. Why medicine spoke to me at such a young age, I don’t know? I had no physicians in my family and no medical story that led me in this direction, but it has always been my mission in life. In high school, the opportunity to volunteer with my local rescue squad and earn my EMT and eventually my paramedic certification, convinced me I was on the correct path. I was always fascinated with the next level of care that occurred behind the emergency department doors after we dropped off our patients and I believe that led me to Emergency Medicine as a specialty.Since starting emergency medicine residency 30-years ago, I have cared for thousands of patients and managed their care and their family’s needs on some of the worst days of their lives. These experiences led me to pursue more formal leadership opportunities. If helping a single patient and their family with clinical skill, empathy, and compassion is the personal reward of the whole process, then lead pursuing the improvement in healthcare for all patients and families and enhance the work environment for the clinicians who provide the bedside care for patients!The privilege to work with dedicated physician, clinical, business and financial experts in healthcare has been a personal development journey. The ability and instruction needed to understand the complexity of healthcare has pushed me to delve deeper into many areas of patient care along my clinical path as well as my current role in hospital leadership and medical staff operations. My quest continues to demonstrate the need for all physicians to seek clinical excellence for their patients but also define their role in improving the administration of healthcare across the entirety of our influence within the system of care.Caring for patients is the greatest honor, at the bedside or as a whole healthcare operation the privilege is all mine. The opportunity to engage the next generation of clinical learners to be the best version of themselves in providing that care to the highest standard is an equal responsibility and honor. In medicine, a vision is a realistic, convincing, and attractive depiction of where you want to be in the future. Vision provides direction, sets priorities, and provides a gauge, so that you can tell that you\'ve achieved what you wanted to achieve. Thank you to all the special colleagues that continue to allow me to contribute to the design of their personal vision and their impact in the elevation to higher expectations for the redesign my own.
