About Anthony Wong
A product development professional with 30 years of experience of product development and manufacturing. Early in my career, I established a foundation in high volume plastic injection molding and thermoforming processes. As well as manufacturing in metal machining, casting and sheet metal. With this core foundation, the concept refinement phase (Beta) is driven with DFM and DFA in the process.• Hands on experienced process development “bottle neck opener”. I put out fires or assist the team anywhere along the product development process.• Technical team leader for the largest budgeted program at Pavmed, I trained and managed a team of 4 internal engineers. That training also included Solidworks CAD, ANSI control drawing and material specifications to meet the performance requirements. o The training of the internal engineering team saved more than 20% in labor cost to outside contractors by bringing the work back in house.o Assist the team in building duty life cycle fixtures to confirm component reliability for performance to exceeded the 5-year product duty cycle and capital equipment warranty. • Leadership with sterilization, material specification, manufacturing and performance reduced the cost of a single use disposables complex fluidics cartridge.• Design modular sterile barrier packaging design for 7 different catheters to reduce packaging SKU and custom tooling.• Design for manufacturing, assembly and for service a surgical device that simultaneously visualizes and quantifies the dynamic physiology of blood flow distribution. The redesign reduced the build and testing time from 5 days to 3 days. Redesign cosmetic enclosure for thermoforming vs manual fiberglass and custom fit assembly.• Technical lead SME to transfer and train a Korean aesthetic product to a US contract manufacture for domestic distribution.• Designed and developed a catheter for hydrocephalus with a purge valve to remove occlusions from orbital debris in CSF.• DFM contracted for a 3-balloon female urinary incontinence device. Upon review of the functionality, I redesigned to a single part that significantly reduced the manufacturing, assembly, tooling and cost. The valve just successfully completed clinical trials. • Injection molding experience and partners off shore in the far east allowed me to reduce tooling cost to all programs as parts are still molded in the US. • Eighty (80%) percent ROI on capital is typical 3-5 years of the product life.Hands on result driven medical product development engineer with excellent team management and collaboration skills.
