I am presently working in News and Editorial in Sky, where I have been investigating low-code solutions to help deliver business value quicker. I was also involved in the development of a new event-driven data delivery platform for Sky News that was used for the recent general election.In both of these projects, I\'ve been actively working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products, chiefly Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and Google PubSub. CircleCI for continuous integration, and Octopus Deploy for continuous delivery. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK and Open Telemetry for monitoring and observability.Prior to this, I worked as a Chapter Lead in the Sky\'s Identity team, where I was responsible for ensuring the robustness and high availability of several of Identity\'s components, that underpin Sky\'s OTT platform. I was also responsible for line managing and coaching five developers to achieve their potential as Software Engineers. My main languages are TypeScript, JavaScript and Java, and I am experienced in Scrum and XP development methodologies. Additionally, I have experience in Test Driven Development (TDD), refactoring and improvement of legacy code, and software craftsmanship. I am familiar with the use of JIRA for project management of user stories and issues and using these stories to drive development using Cucumber to enable BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) and TDD. As well as continuing to develop my technical skills, I am also helping to drive the adoption of better practices in software development as well as drive closer collaboration with stakeholders to get faster feedback on new features and ideas.
