Founder and director of the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce at the McCourt School of Public Policy. The Center is an independent, nonprofit research and policy institute that studies the links among education, career qualifications, and workforce demands. Since 2007, the Center has been the primary source of national and state projections of demand for workers with specific levels of postsecondary education and training.The Center has published more than 50 reports, articles, and book chapters about workforce needs and trends. The publications have analyzed such topics as the lifetime career value of postsecondary degrees, the effect of economic downturns on demand for workers, and the American higher education system’s track record at offering opportunities to minority students.As part of its mission, the Center has two special initiatives. For our States Initiative, Center economists and researchers work with individual states and their higher education systems to set educational attainment goals and improve alignment between education and the economy. Our Equity Initiative informs educational advocates and school counselors about gaps in majors, degrees, unemployment, and earnings among minority groups.
