I am an appointed Fellow of the IMechE and an Engineering Manager for the new UK Geological Disposal Facility. I am a master’s qualified apprentice trained Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in delivering engineering solutions. During my working career I have produced innovative designs and managed complex projects within risk adverse industries. I have successfully led the design, manufacture, installation and commission of multi-million-pound projects for the nuclear industry. These projects required the management of multidisciplinary internal and external resources.I have acted as the Principal Designer, as defined under CDM regulations, for a Nuclear Licensed Site, which designs, manufactures and tests the operational performance of Nuclear Reactors. I have been responsible for the delivery of various nuclear projects and technically accountable for their quality.With my breadth of engineering knowledge within the nuclear industry I have gained extensive experience in leading teams to deliver complex high-risk projects on time and to budget, while delivering designs that are compliant to the design intent and fit for purpose.KEY EXPERIENCE• Appointed Site Engineering Manager and Principal Designer (CDM Regulations) for a UK Nuclear Licensed site.• Acted as the Intelligent Customer (IC) for all design activities on a Nuclear Licensed Site.• Built cross-functional Engineering teams that can design, manufacture, install and commission nuclear systems.• Led multidisciplinary teams to design, install and commission a new chemical processing plant for the reprocessing of nuclear fuel.• Led and endorsed the production of conventional and nuclear safety cases for the design, manufacture, installation and commission of nuclear systems and components.• Acted as the Technical Authority for the design, manufacture, install and commission of nuclear reactor components and systems.• Designed and substantiated complex components/systems within risk adverse industries.• Implemented and managed a new multidisciplinary design team for the design and substantiation of new Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs) for the nuclear safety case.
