About Anshul Kumar Pandey

I am a first-generation lawyer.I funded my legal education by working in journalism, advertising and content roles (Experience Commerce, Dentsu FMKTG, Lowe Lintas, IndiaTimes etc.) during law school. After graduating in 2016, I built an independent practice from scratch and scaled it to more than a dozen startup retainer clients within two years.I later moved in-house with a category-creating edtech company in Gurugram as its first legal hire. I worked with top senior advocates on a High Court Writ litigation, engaged directly with regulators (Ministry of Skill, NCVET, NSDC etc.), and managed multi-state exposure with Tier-I external counsel (LKS, Khaitan, Fox & Mandal etc). I built the company’s legal and compliance architecture (SWATAH, KAUSHAL and SureStart Agreement Models), institutionalised intellectual property protection, and implemented enterprise-wide litigation tracking. I reported directly to the CFO and CEO on risk and mitigation while also working closely with the CPO.Overall, I worked on regulatory strategy across higher education, skill development and healthcare sectors. The organisation’s revenue grew 9x during that period. We closed two fundraises totalling ~$15 million, led by domestic and international institutional investors.I am now transitioning into venture capital as a VC Fellow (Cohort 11) at Metvy to apply my regulatory experience to securities and early-stage investing.If you are building in regulated sectors, I am open to conversations.
