ABOUT RIE BRIDGES
I\'m a recovering academic turned brand experience strategist. I started my professional life as a teacher and researcher in Harvard\'s program in the Study of Religion, where I specialized in the intersection of religious media, art, optics, and perception in Renaissance Europe. Today, I leverage my PhD in the History of Religion to help organizations develop culture-first brands. My signature is marrying the latest social sciences insights with old-sometimes ancient-techniques of symbolism and storytelling. I view religion and brand as two ways humans connect with something bigger than themselves. Before joining the corporate world, I taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the history of religion at multiple institutions. This history gives us an archive of techniques that communities have used, across place and time, to shape human perception and drive behavior. Branders and marketers are arguably the modern inheritors of these tactics, which teach us how to make meaning, channel desire, and inspire action. In addition to teaching and conducting original research, I\'ve also applied my background in cultural history to arenas as diverse as international peace-building and state politics. Since leaving the ivory tower for the corporate wilds, I\'ve consulted for brands like NASCAR, Best Buy, Huntington Bank, Helzberg Diamonds, Visit Pennsylvania, Valvoline, and Ecolab. My work creating a culture-first FFX NOVA brand for the Fairfax County Economic Development Agency was recently awarded Gold for Best Creative Business Strategy at the 2025 Transform Awards.
