ABOUT ANN KHALID

I\'m a Business Economics student from the University of East Anglia and I aspire to work as an Economic Analyst/Researcher/Consultant. My interest in this subject drew from my curiosity of how things work in the world. I enjoy connecting and engaging in meaningful conversation with people who share my passion. I hold a scholarship from Brickfields Asia College for being the highest-achieving applicant in their UK Transfer Degree (1+2) program. Moreover, I have achieved a first-class grade in every module in my 2nd year. This, paired with my win in the Norwich Economic Podcast competition in 2020, greatly reflects my passion for this field. My specific areas of interests include behavioural economics, history of economic thought, and multidisciplinary economics. Besides that, I am particularly skilled and interested in econometrics and economics of corporate finance. UEA has equipped me with valuable skills such as in Stata and R Studio. Outside of university, I am currently self-teaching myself other programming languages such as Python and SQL. Working in the hospitality industry for 6 years, I have learnt many valuable lessons regarding customer service, teamwork, and building relationships. I would consider myself an empathic and thoughtful person, as I deeply care about my friends and colleagues. Furthermore, my most recent experience in interning with the university in the area of Competition Policy and Inequality has given me the opportunity to expand my researching and analytical abilities as well as my skills in Ms Office. Outside of work and university, I also really enjoy painting and reading non-fictional Economic books. I love to travel and learn something new from other cultures, hence why I chose to continue my education abroad.
