In my research I try to understand how the healthy immune system controls inflammation, how cytokine responses are adjusted to the severity of an infection and how those control mechanisms are misdirected in sterile inflammatory or autoimmune diseases- regulation of cytokine production by neutrophils in infection and sterile inflammation- role of neutrophils in atherosclerosis- immunogenicity of neutrophil extracellular traps
