ABOUT ANNIKA HANSEN
I am a Benton Scholar and member of the Colgate University Class of 2027, majoring in Peace and Conflict Studies. My academic focus is on the intersections of security, militarization, and gender insecurities. I graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Nyborg Gymnasium in Denmark in 2023 and studied abroad at the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 2025.During my time in Denmark, I actively volunteered with the Red Cross, where I assisted in the integration of Ukrainian refugees who arrived at the onset of the war. This experience influenced my decision to pursue a Peace and Conflict Studies major at Colgate. In addition to my work with the Red Cross, I served as a student leader on both the Environmental Council and Amnesty International. Beyond my academic and leadership pursuits, I am passionate about music, hosting a radio show on WRCU, and playing for the Colgate Womxn’s Rugby team.
