About Annie Rappeport

As Associate Director of Community Dialogue at Yale University, I am part of team leading efforts to cultivate spaces for generative, restorative, and transformative conversation. With 15+ years of dialogue design and facilitation experience, 10+ years in nonprofits, 5+ years teaching and 7+ years in higher education leadership, I am delighted to root myself at Yale University, a professional home where I can integrate these threads in service to building community resilience through connective conversations, collaborative imagination, and peacebuilding practice.My interdisciplinary approach is grounded in my Ph.D. Concentration (International Peace and Environmental Studies) with the support of my PhD advisor and continued mentor, Dr. Jing Lin. My research explores how societies remember, heal, and prevent violence—centering dialogue, listening, and the arts as tools for collective flourishing. I am especially passionate about experiential pedagogy, inclusive curriculum design, and supporting emotionally and politically complex learning environments including work with the Alliance for Peacebuilding related to human centered designs for effective, community building, protest and policing in university settings. In 2023–2024, I was honored to serve as a Charles E. Scheidt Teaching Fellow for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention at Binghamton University. From 20••••25, I was also honored to be a research fellow on student-facing political dialogue engagement through the \"Is the Good Life Political?\" project led by Dr. Rachel Wahl. Formerly an elected representative for over students in the University System of Maryland, I co-led the 2022–2024 University of Maryland Mental Health Taskforce—building a participatory research and listening infrastructure to inform policies around belonging, restorative practices, and wellbeing.Part time, I have additional roles including supporting partnerships for Making Peace Visible, providing leadership to the International Listening Association, serving on the advisory board for the Viewpoints Project and serving as a Senior Editor for the Holistic Education Review, an open-access journal advancing integrative scholarship in education.
