About Annie Neimand
Building power beside communities to cultivate narrative, systems, and mindset change through research, equitable evaluation, and emergent learning. I am the Director of Impact and Evaluation for Third Sector. I evaluate to improve our partnerships with government-funded service programs to achieve racial and economic equity outcomes, grow the field of outcomes-focused government to improve public systems, and support the organization in narrative change work on the role of government in building equitable and just communities. I am on the Leadership Team for the Radical Communicators Network. I collaborate with the team to set the network\'s strategy. We\'re currently building a curriculum on narrative power for progressive movement workers. I also collaborate on the Mindset Constortium, a collective of organizations exploring how to drive mindset and narrative change. Previously, I worked as the Director of Research for the Center for Public Interest Communications at the University of Florida. I worked with my colleagues to launch the Center and co-create evidence-based frameworks shared with thousands of social change practitioners. I also directed the Center\'s research initiatives and consulted for organizations all over the world, including UN Refugee Agency, Participant Media, National Geographic Society, Define American, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, MTV, Invisible People, the U.S. State Department, the White House Office of Science and Technology, and Housing Narrative Lab. For 10 years, I was the Research Director for frank, a gathering for social change practitioners, researchers, and students. I managed the $1Ok Prize for Research in Public Interest Communications. The prize has awarded over $100k to scholars whose work is being applied by practitioners. I am most proud of increasing the inclusion of scholars of color sharing their work with the social change sector. I have a PhD in sociology from the University of Florida, where I studied social movements, strategic communications, social psychology, feminist mixed methods and intersectionality.
