I focus my law practice on helping companies and their stakeholders solve problems and obtain resolution in commercial, employment and complex litigation matters. I assist clients and other Hinshaw attorneys across the country with managing complex litigation and solving business issues and disputes.I also have extensive experience handling life, health and disability litigation—both ERISA and non-ERISA—relating to employee benefits matters and managed care disputes. I defend insurers, third-party administrators, and plan fiduciaries in matters alleging improper claim administration and management of employee welfare benefit plans.Over the course of my career, I have practiced in courts throughout the Midwest, including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and South Dakota. I have extensive experience appearing in federal court and managing complex litigation matters in a variety of areas. Prior to joining Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, I practiced at a Minneapolis-based civil litigation firm. Before embarking on my legal career, I was a compliance and operations specialist in San Diego for the international brokerage firm Merrill Lynch.I received my undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a B.A. in Mathematics and received my J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2008. Despite having graduated from law school during the 2008 Great Recession, my grit, responsiveness and unflappable demeanor have helped guide my career forward and become assets in problem solving. Giving back to the community is important to me. In addition to volunteering at my kids school, I have volunteered with the Federal Pro Se Project, providing pro bono services for the underserved. I have also volunteered with Mile in My Shoes, an organization bringing people from diverse backgrounds together through the power of running.
