To create a new product, whether it was Thomas Edison inventing the light bulb, or Steve Jobs inventing the iPhone, there are five steps that need to be accomplished: • Define what the product will do. • Design how the product will do it. • Develop the product. • Test that the product does what it was defined to do. • Put the item into Production (in software: deploy the code).The most crucial step in product development, the step that made the light bulb and the iPhone revolutionary, is the first one, “Define”. The second most important is “Design”. If you don’t define something which solves the business problem, and design it so that it’s user friendly, then what you develop will not be successful. At Athena Consultants we specialize in the Define and Design steps. For the design step we utilize User Experience (UX) Design: UX Design incorporates \"not only the beauty and function of a product, but also things like delight and emotion.\"In addition, we help IT companies and IT groups within companies harness the power of both Agile and User Experience (UX) Design in their Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
