Since August 2021, I have been working to assist our Afghan Allies who were seeking evacuation, refuge and resettlement. I became involved with a group of pro bono and non-profit lawyers and organizations to assist our Afghan Allies to obtain Humanitarian Parole, Asylum and Employment Authorization documents with a view toward becoming legal permanent residents. More recently, we have been working towards family reunification. Many family members remained behind during the August 2021 evacuation and were unable to take advantage of Operation Allies Rescue/Operation Allies Welcome.In my case, after two years of work, my Afghan client obtained Asylum and Employment Authorization. I am now working to reunite him with his wife and three young children. His family is on an evacuation by the CARE Team of USCIS and the Department of State.
