ABOUT ANNETTE REYNOLDS
back to biosAnnette is the retired director and steward of Manitou Cave of Alabama, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, which she founded in 2016. The mission is to \"respect and protect this historic sacred site through conservation and education so that the cave land and water are preserved for visitors and wildlife, as a place of peace.\" earned her RN from Georgia State & Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA, a BS from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, IL, a MPS in Art Therapy from Pratt in Brooklyn, NY, and Clinical Pastoral Education from UAB Hospital in B\'ham, AL. She serves as President of the Alabama Art Therapy Association. Annette brings more than 50 years of leadership & experience as a licensed healthcare professional RN and board-certified clinical Art Therapist. She has worked with individuals and groups of all ages in education and health care that include: alternative school, in-patient psychiatry, community mental health, obstetrics, home health, HIV/AIDS clinic, hospice, geriatrics, rehabilitation, grief camps, support groups, clinical research & eating disorder center. As part of her international service, Annette worked in Bosnia and Haiti with children and teachers who experienced trauma from war and natural disasters. Annette was a volunteer in Russia and Thailand and on her first trip to India in 1980, she met Mother Teresa. She collected and distributed medical, art, and school supplies to schools and orphanages in Kenya and Haiti, as well as 200 soccer balls in Guinea, West Africa. For fifteen years, Annette was a certified Veriditas labyrinth facilitator, a founder of The Labyrinth Society, and founded the Labyrinth Project of Alabama. During this time she created numerous labyrinths and facilitated hundreds of workshops worldwide. Although Annette retired from her professional careers in 2016, she continued to serve as the volunteer Director and Steward of Manitou Cave of AL, through protection, preservation, conservation and education. She has received numerous awards and has been interviewed and featured on TV, in videos, books, professional journals, newspapers and magazines. Annette has been a part of the change she wants to see in the world. Her greatest gift is gratitude for her family, friends, faith communities, teachers, advisors, mentors, and supporters, who have been her guides. “My intention is to ‘walk the talk,’ be a role model of healthy living, and align my professional life with my heart, authentic self, and spiritual path. I like to take all of me to whatever I do and wherever I go.\"
