About Annette Parker
I am a proud graduate of Lansing Community College and was recently selected as their 2015 alumni of the year. In 1990, I was hired and during my tenure at I was successful in developing strong ties with divisions of the college, business, industry, and other academic institutions. As department chair I supported the design and implementation of the new West Campus. In that role I collaborated with business and industry to bring more than $50 million dollars of corporate partnerships to the campus. In 2007, I joined the Kentucky Community & Technical College System to lead a National Center of Excellence in Advanced Automotive Manufacturing (AMTEC) and to support KCTCS On Demand, a portal for online curriculum. AMTEC is a partnership between colleges and the automotive industry. In 2011, AMTEC was selected by the National Governors Association as a National Best Practice.In 2013, I became president of South Central College. At SCC, I collaborated with Minnesota State University to develop a transfer pathways for students. South Central College was awarded a Minnesota State Center of Excellence in Agriculture,that has developed a national curriculum and assessments for the National Pork Board. I also accepted a position on President Obama’s Advanced Manufacturing Partnership to make recommendations that sustain and grow American manufacturing competitiveness. In this role, I successfully developed a Minnesota collaboration that secured a $15 million grant to implement the national strategies within Minnesota. Since my arrival in Minnesota, South Central College has been awarded over $20 million dollars in grants and nearly doubled our foundations capital campaign. My outlook, enthusiasm and positive attitude, loyalty and trust have earned the confidence and trust of others. Personal concern and care of students, faculty, and staff, and community have motivated and inspired me and is what I attribute to my achievement and success.
