ABOUT ANNETTE N. BROWN
Annette Brown, Ph.D. is an economist and organizational leader with more than 20 years of experience in the field of international development, including multiple positions at executive and senior management levels. She is currently the Head of Strategy and Principal Economist at FHI 360. Her expertise includes organizational management and development, strategy and innovation, research and evaluation, business development and fundraising, program management, technical assistance and policy advice, grant-making, and capacity strengthening. She has worked in corporate, nonprofit, and multilateral organizations and in academe. Her research and program experience spans most development sectors, including economic growth, democracy and governance, and global health. Brown has worked in more than thirty countries and advised government policy makers in all regions of the world. She has also served on two boards of directors, worked directly with the boards of her employers, and occasionally serves on international advisory groups. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of Systematizing Confidence in Open Research and Evidence (SCORE) and as an External Affiliate of the University of Canterbury UCMeta Center for meta-research. She teaches at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago and was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Western Michigan University. Much of her research, especially in the last decade, has focused on various aspects of evidence-based policy making and on research transparency and scientific practice. Her publications include dozens of journal articles, book chapters, and public reports, and she is an accomplished public speaker, including as a video series host, invited panelist and lecturer, and conference and seminar presenter.
