ABOUT ANNE PETERSON

I have three key priorities to keep me occupied during this time of uncertainty: 1. The Centre for Child Development of the Lower Mainland has taken on the challenge of providing services to children through multiple platforms. Tools are adjusted as our therapists adapt to meet specific needs. I am so proud of my colleagues who are continuing to provide high quality services to the most vulnerable of children. Measuring and tracking their work has likewise changed. This fills my days. I continue my role as a public appointed Director on the College of Pharmacists of BC. My role has evolved over the past year and I now chair their Governance Committee. The College has had to quickly adapt to new directions from Health Canada to ensure that patients needs are met in a timely manner despite the current physical distancing challenges. We feel that responsibility as we review and inform policies and protocols to ensure both patients and pharmacists are safe at the counter. And my family, though listed as 3rd here, is first in my mind as is it with everyone else. How to keep them safe, sheltered, fed? I am grateful for all my years as an advocate for my community, including a few years in politics, and years in private/public sector as a consultant in public policy, facilitation, and strategic planning. The skills gained are now being tested in ways never anticipated to deal with a pandemic that has changed what is meant by work and service. I worry for those who do not have the security of shelter and regular meals. My eyes were opened to just how many are vulnerable when I participated on the BC Government’s Poverty Reduction Forum (2018). If nothing else, our understanding of collective social responsibility has changed. Work has changed. Priorities have changed. Are we preparing to adapt to what comes next?
