About Annelise E. Barron

Research, teaching, and consultation in molecular biophysics, medicine, and biotechnology. Current H-index (impact factor) from ISI Web of Science: 58.(Web of Science, All Databases, Barron Annelise)Current research interests: Molecular and cellular biophysics of human innate immunity (host defense peptides). Molecular biophysical mechanisms of degenerative plaque accumulation disease including Alzheimer\'s, Type II Diabetes, and atherosclerosis, via biophysical / bioanalytical chemical studies of amyloidogenic peptides. Biomimetic hydrogels for stem cell and beta-islet cell culture. Adiponectin, and its connection to metabolic disorder, as we recently developed a simple expression system for functional adiponectin multimers.Completed research projects: Novel polymer-biomolecule conjugates; Sequence-controlled, biomimetic oligomers with folded structure (\"foldamers\") for medical and biomaterial applications (specifically, mimicry of natural lung surfactant proteins and antimicrobial peptides). Also, novel polymeric materials and strategies to enhance the functioning and power of microscale analytical technologies, including capillary and microchip electrophoresis (for DNA sequencing, forensics, and genotyping); Enhanced protein, peptide, and antibody separations by capillary and microchip electrophoresis.
