ABOUT ANNEKE KLOPPER

I have 21 years’ international experience working for a large multi-national mining and metals company and in a fast-paced Big 4 environment. I am an experienced and highly regarded people leader of global teams. I have extensive experience in preparing consolidated half-year and annual financial reports and providing advice on complex accounting matters such as business acquisitions, divestments, share-based payments, internal restructures and the adoption of new accounting standards. I have managed the second line assurance program for the broader Finance function as well as governance of the global corporate card program. My current role has responsibility for financial analysis (budgeting, forecasting and monthly cost reporting and analysis) of South32’s global functions. This includes partnering with functional Vice Presidents to deliver cost outcomes, understand spending trends and identify cost efficiencies. I also oversee the finance teams of South32’s projects (i.e. projects under development and operations being divested or in care-and-maintenance) and manage interactions with key Joint Venture partners whilst ensuring compliance with the Joint Venture agreements. I am an accomplished project manager with experience implementing: cost out programs, new accounting standards and technology solutions. I have experience in setting up high performing teams, understanding and mapping processes with the aim of identifying and implementing process improvements. In 2015, I was an integral part of the finance team working on the demerger of South32 Limited from the BHP Billiton Group, the largest demerger in mining history. I am a graduate of the Chief Executive Woman Leadership Program for which I was nominated by South32’s Lead team. I was also nominated by the CFO and Finance leadership team to attend a Leadership Development Program run by the Centre of Creative Leadership in Singapore as an acknowledgement of high performance. I am a proficient written and verbal communicator with over 16 years’ experience communicating with senior management, Audit Committees and Boards of Directors.
