Jan 2001 — Present
Co-founder. KEF provides education and mentoring to poor and nomadic children in Kenya through the Kenyan school systems and specialized workshops to help them improve their lives and the lives of their families and communities. Because of our belief in the importance of supporting nomadic children and girls, at least 50% our students are girls and 50% are from pastoralist groups. Founded in 2001 as Nomadic Kenyan Children\'s Educational Fund, merged with/aquired two other organizations (KEF and Children of Kibera) with similar missions in 2011 and 2014 and continues working with almost students each year, most of whom go on to continuing education and employment. In 2016, over 79% of KEF-supported students qualified for Kenyan University (grades of B+ or higher on national exams) vs only 31% on average across Kenya.
