Paragraf owns a unique method of depositing graphene directly onto substrates and designs and manufactures graphene electronic chips such as electrochemical sensors. I joined as Paragraf’s first ever IP manager and so devised the company’s IP strategy, budget and processes from scratch and procured essential tools and services such as IP insurance, databases and search tools. When I started, Paragraf had one granted patent and I have grown this to more than 250 granted and pending patent applications, resulting in Paragraf being amongst the largest patent holders in the graphene electronic space and 7th “most innovative UK startup” by patent strength (LexisNexis publication, Feb 2025). Because manufacturing processes are key to the company’s business model, trade secrets are critical and I have put in place trade secret protection processes and training courses. Furthermore I have engaged trademarks attorneys and secured registered trademarks for brand elements in key sales territories. During Paragraf’s acquisition of Cardea Bio, Inc, I carried out IP due diligence then integrated its IP with Paragraf’s.
