ABOUT ANNE LAYBOURNE
Leading the impressive Students’ Union UCL staff and student team that’s responsible for enabling students and members to create positive societal impact through their curricular, co- and extracurricular activities. We create opportunities around engaged research, community volunteering, and surfacing students’ entrepreneurial potential for social benefit. In addition, partnered with the Office of the Vice Provost (Education & Student Experience) to co-create the ExtendED Learning programme, a term’s worth of inclusive, practical, and useful extended learning opportunities to produce graduates with the right skills mix to tackle their uncertain futures. Key words: mutual benefit, diversity of knowledge, societal purpose of universities, collective action, sharing privilege. The aim is to equip our students so that they may leave our academic walls with fresh perspectives having witnessed and engaged with grounded, authentic expertise within our local voluntary, community & social enterprise sector.
