ABOUT ANNE L. FOUNDAS
Dr. Foundas is Executive Director of the Brain Institute of Louisiana. This Institute is a private non-profit that promotes brain health in Louisiana through research & education. Five centers of excellence have been established to address critical neurological conditions including the: Alzheimer’s Center, Autism Center, Brain Health Center, Stroke Center, and the Stuttering & Language Center. Dr. Foundas is an academic physician-scientist & board certified neurologist with >25 years of experience, including extensive experience caring for people with cognitive and memory disorders. She has worked at the Tulane University School of Medicine, where she directed the Neurology Residency training program, at the LSU Health Sciences Center, where she was Vice-Chair of Research in Neurology, and at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, where she was Chair of the Department of Neurology. Dr. Foundas is an active clinician. She is currently managing partner at NOLA Brain & Behavior. Dr. Foundas is an accomplished clinical neuroscientist with expertise in speech and language, learning & memory, motor control & learned skilled movement. She has trained over 50 research students. Many of her students are leaders in academic and healthcare settings. Dr. Foundas has published extensively in her field with over 200 scientific publications. The National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Louisiana Board of Regents, and many foundations including the Malcolm Fraser Foundation and the Charles A. Dana Foundation have funded her research program. She is currently a Research Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at LSU in Baton Rouge. Her expertise as a clinician has been recognized by being listed in the Best Doctors in America as well as publications in Louisiana and Kansas City. She has won many awards for her research including the prestigious Norman Geschwind Prize in Behavioral Neurology.
