ABOUT ANNE JOSEPH
I am an international development and diplomacy professional with experience across the UN system, government agencies, and diplomatic missions—specialising in gender equality, child protection, public diplomacy, and youth empowerment. I have contributed to high-level global initiatives, managed complex cross-border protection cases, and built strategic partnerships that strengthen cooperation between communities, governments, and international institutions. At the Ministry for Children, I coordinated sensitive international child protection and intercountry adoption cases, preparing briefings that informed national decision-making across government. As Secretary of the United Nations Association of New Zealand, I led the country’s largest youth consultation for the UN Summit of the Future and aligned national programmes with the Sustainable Development Goals to drive measurable impact. My diplomatic engagements include advisory work with France, the European Union Delegation, and the United States Embassy, advancing public diplomacy efforts and supporting stronger bilateral relationships. With UN Women Aotearoa New Zealand, I contributed to major advocacy campaigns addressing gender-based violence and women’s participation in peace, security, and leadership.Internationally, I have coordinated empowerment programmes in Egypt focused on dismantling structural barriers for girls and addressing harmful practices such as child marriage. Across every role, I bring strong coordination, cultural intelligence, and strategic communication—anchored in a commitment to people-centred justice and inclusive global development.I thrive at the intersection of diplomacy, policy, and community impact, driven by the belief that equitable systems are built when diverse voices—especially women and youth—have the power to shape them.
