About Anne Helmreich

As Associate Director, Getty Foundation, providing programmatic and administrative oversight for the Getty’s grant making activities in alignment with the Getty Foundation’s priorities and goals. As Associate Director, Digital Initiatives, leading the Getty Research Institute\'s contributions to strengthening art history and the cultural heritage field through digital transformation. As Dean, College of Fine Arts, Texas Christian University, advancing higher education in the arts for the twenty-first century. Scholar specializing in nineteenth-century European art with a focus on British art and architecture as well as the digital humanities. Have published on the relationship of art and science, garden design, print culture, Victorian artists, and rise of modernism. Am currently at work on a studies of the formation of the modern art markets in London and New York City. Teaching areas include nineteenth and early twentieth-century European art, history of photography, gender studies, museum studies. Interested in working with museum collections with an object-based approach. As humanities director-develop thematic programming with a focus on collaboration and crossing disciplinary boundaries; obtain external funding; supervise internal grant programs; organize marketing and communications; work with advisory board, friends group and faculty steering committee; manage budget- with the goal advancing the humanities at Case Western Reserve University.

   Providing executive leadership and direction to the Archives[ developing and implementing a vision for the Archives to achieve its overall mission[ defining program goals, objectives, and priorities, in keeping with the Archives’ commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. Developing and monitoring short and long-range program plans covering all aspects of the Archives operations, including new acquisitions, collections management, conservation, digitization, and dissemination, fundraising, external affairs, research, publications, exhibits, public service, and facilities management. Per the ethos of “One Smithsonian,” encouraging, exploring, and developing joint programs in cooperation with other Smithsonian museums, research and educational organizations, especially with regard to those areas identified in the Smithsonian Strategic Plan, as well as with universities, federal organizations, non-Smithsonian museums, and other cultural organizations.
