About Anna Pickett
As a highly motivated and committed disability rights activist and aspiring human rights attorney, I have dedicated myself, my time and my talents to improving access and inclusion for underrepresented communities and catalyzing positive social change in a variety of professional and public service spaces. Given my personal lived experience as a disabled women, my professional endeavors and passions for inclusion and access are also deeply personal. Through my career, I have worked hard to ensure accessibility is at the center of my social justice activism and diversity, equity and inclusion activities both in the US and abroad, particularly in my work with Seattle Global Shapers and Seattle International Foundation, in my research in Central America and during my time as President of Students for Disability Justice at Seattle University. I am originally from the Bay Area in Northern California and moved to the Seattle area in 2013 for university. I graduated from Seattle University in spring of 2017 with a double major in Spanish and Humanities for Leadership with a specialization in Equality Rights and Advocacy. I then went on to complete my Fulbright Research Fellowship to Nicaragua, where I analyzed national disability law and policy in relation to disability perception and stigma in an effort to improve inclusion for people with disabilities. In Autumn 2021, I started at the University of Washington School of Law as a JD Candidate and Gates Public Service Law Scholar.
